Black-faced Bunting

A lucky shot of the non-breeding male Black-faced Bunting that I found while walking downhill from my campus to the seashore. There were surprisingly many of these along the way. They would constantly flush up from the roadside grass and disappear quickly into the more distant bush. This one here was a little different. I flushed it up accidentally and saw that it flew out into the nearby bamboo thicket. I decided to wait for it to come back and luckily it did. It slowly crept out from the bamboo and hopped on to the ground in front of me. However, after firing a few shots, it quickly flew off into the bamboo again and this time didn't come back. This is the first time for me to get a decent shot of the male Black-faced Bunting at close range, so I was really pleased with the result.
